Price reductions continue in the automotive market: The renewed MG4 has landed in Israel with interesting news. The long-range XRange version now boasts a combined range of 545 kilometers, an increase of 20 km, and a price of NIS 149,000, a reduction of NIS 17,000 from the original list price. The XRange will be the cheapest car in the country to achieve a range of over 500 km.
Chinese MG has decided to target the family car market from two directions. The older MG4 with rear-wheel drive, rare in this segment, has undergone a significant facelift, while simultaneously launching in Europe, and soon in Israel, the MG4 Urban, a larger family car with front-wheel drive, slightly shorter range, and a lower price.
The renewed MG4 launched today in Israel has barely changed externally aside from a new spoiler, but its cabin has been updated, mainly around the driver. The dashboard now features a new design with higher-quality materials, a previous weak point in the original model. The central multimedia screen has grown to 12.8 inches (originally 10.2 inches), with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay interfaces, and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster instead of the previous 7-inch. The cabin also offers the option to choose the interior color, between black and light (for an additional NIS 1,222).
The only equipment level includes LED headlights, five driving modes (ECO, Normal, Sport, Snow, and Custom) affecting performance, energy consumption, and more, a four-level energy recovery system including automatic mode depending on driving conditions, driving with one pedal, keyless entry and ignition, 4 parking cameras providing a 360-degree ‘bird’s-eye view,’ a wireless charging pad for mobile phones, a V2L function with up to 2,200 watts for charging external electrical devices, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and more.
Dimensions remain unchanged: 4.29 meters in length, 1.84 meters in width, 1.52 meters in height, and a wheelbase of 2.71 meters. The trunk has a volume of 363 liters.
The MG4’s safety equipment, which received 5 out of 5 stars in the 2022 European crash test, includes 6 airbags, autonomous emergency braking for forward and reverse driving, adaptive stability control, lane keeping and deviation correction, blind-spot monitoring and deviation prevention, and more.
The Israeli lineup now includes two versions. The basic Luxury (NIS 143,000) now has 190 hp and a 64 kWh battery. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 7.5 seconds (7.9 seconds before the facelift), and the top speed has increased to 180 km/h instead of 160 km/h. The combined driving range has increased by 17 km to 452 km, while charging from 20% to 80% has shortened to 22 minutes (28 minutes before the facelift) thanks to the use of a reinforced internal charger with 154 kW output (instead of 135) at DC stations and 11 kW at AC stations.
The XRange version (from 149,000 NIS) keeps a 245 hp motor with 35.7 kg·m of torque and a 77 kWh battery. The combined range has increased by 20 km to 545 km, more than the base Tesla Model 3 (534 km). Charging from 20% to 80% takes about 38 minutes due to using a slightly weaker charger than the smaller battery version (144 kW for fast charging), while slow charging is possible at 11 kW. Performance? 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, top speed 180 km/h.
Warranty includes 7 years or 150,000 km for the vehicle and 8 years or 150,000 km for the battery. Service intervals are 24,000 km or one year, whichever comes first.
Metallic paint is available for an additional NIS 1,555, and returning MG customers will receive a NIS 1,500 discount.
