In a statement to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, chip manufacturer Tower admitted Sunday that it fell victim to a cyberattack. According to the statement, the IT security systems of the company identified an incident in some of the company's systems as a result of a cyber incident. As a preventive measure, the company halted operations of some of its servers and manufacturing facilities.

“Tower has notified relevant authorities and is working closely with law enforcement and with a leading team of worldwide experts, coordinated with its insurance providers, in order to recover the impacted systems as soon as possible. At this point there is no assessment as to the actual effect on the company," the statement said.

It is not clear yet what type of cyberattack it is, but the company has cyber insurance.
