Rafael Advanced Defense Systems is expected to showcase a wide variety of defense systems at the upcoming Singapore Airshow, including the "Ice Breaker," the "Sea Breaker," and "Rocks."
The Ice Breaker, an air-launched long-range attack weapon system, was originally unveiled in 2022 and, according to Rafael, “provides surgical, pinpoint precision strike capabilities from standoff ranges.”
The system launched one year after the Sea Breaker system, which serves the same purpose on land and at sea.
With an advanced IIR (Imaging Infra-Red) seeker, the Sea Breaker can engage both maritime and land targets in advanced anti-access or area denial arenas. It can hit targets in littoral or brown water, including archipelagos, and also strike targets where previous “generation RF-seeker-based missiles are not effective,” Rafael said at the Sea Breaker's 2021 launch.
The Rocks missile, unveiled by Rafael in 2019, combines supersonic cruise capabilities with satellite and inertial navigation and optical targeting. It is based on Rafael’s Anchor missile, which mimics the Iranian Shahab missile in speed and maneuverability for testing purposes.
The Rocks can be launched from smaller F-16 jets and, potentially, from the F-35. Foreign assessments suggest it has a range of 300 km and can carry a 500 kg warhead, making it capable of targeting fortified or underground structures.
Rafael's showcase will also feature a variety of intelligence systems, including, among others, LiteSite and Puzzle, as well as the Spice missile array. According to the Israeli defense company, this wide-ranging display is intended to show Singapore Airshow attendees the potential of Rafael's multilayered defense capabilities.
Participants will also see the more well-known Rafael products that have been used to defend the State of Israel in recent years, such as David's Sling, the Iron Dome, and the Iron Beam.
“Modern operations increasingly depend on the ability to integrate sensing, intelligence, precision strike, and air defense into a single operational picture," Rafael CEO Yoav Tourgeman said, adding that, "Real-world experience has shown that when these capabilities are tightly connected, they change how forces understand and manage the battlefield.”
