IDF soldier killed, 3 others hurt in jeep accident

The IDF on Friday identified 19-year-old Pvt. Dor Ga'an from central Israel as the soldier killed when a military reconnaissance vehicle overturned in the Golan Heights earlier in the day.
Two other soldiers were severely injured in the incident and a third was slightly hurt. The accident occurred during routine operational activity, according to the IDF.
MDA paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident, providing medical care to the injured soldiers, who were initially trapped underneath the vehicle.
Ga'an was evacuated to a nearby hospital by helicopter, suffering from severe injuries to his head and chest. He later succumbed to his wounds while at the hospital.
The three other injured soldiers were also evacuated to hospital.
The Northern Command set up an inquiry commission to investigate the crash and determine its cause.
The incident marked the second death of an IDF soldier in as many weeks. Last Friday, St.-Sgt. Netanel Moshiashvili was killed in an early morning clash with a Palestinian gunman who had infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip.
The IDF said the gunman crossed into Israel at 5 a.m. after cutting through the security fence using “sophisticated means.”
A nearby reconnaissance unit detected the shooter and a unit from the Golani Brigade’s 12th Battalion was immediately sent to the scene.
The small unit from Battalion 12 engaged the terrorist. Moshiashvili, 21, from Ashkelon, was killed. The troops returned fire, killing the gunman who was later identified as Ahmed Nassir.
“Due to the fast response by the force, a larger terrorist attack in the area was thwarted,” Col. Tal Hermoni, commander of the Gaza Division’s Southern Brigade, told reporters. “We are in a state of constant fighting and our mission is to protect the residents, and we do that with resolve and determination.”
