EU delegation discusses intensification of antisemitism in Europe

"The fight against antisemitism is a struggle for the very future of Europe," Ambassador Danny Danon concluded.

In the wake of a rise in number of antisemitic incidents, especially in Europe, the problem was discussed by Ambassador Danny Danon and UN ambassadors from the European Union at a special meeting at the headquarters of the EU delegation to the UN.
In February, increases in antisemitic episodes were reported in both Germany and France.
The German government reported a sharp increase in antisemitic events in 2018, with a 60% rise in physical attacks.
French politicians also noted the rise of occurrences, with French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner saying antisemitism is "spreading like poison."
"A radical and hate-filled minority wants to lead Europe into a dark and troubling era, and it is our moral duty at this time is to join forces and act together against modern day antisemitism," Danon said. "Israel stresses to these governments the need to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of antisemitism, which provides a moral and ethical compass. In addition, anti-hate education should be increased from an early age, and antisemitic messages should be monitored in social networks."
