European Parliament sanctions two MEPs for making use of Nazi imagery

Polish MEP Janusz Korwin-Mikke and Italian MEP Gianluca Buonanno have been suspended for ten days and fined 3,060 euros.

The European Parliament on Monday sanctioned two of its members for making use of Nazi imagery during parliament sessions.
Polish MEP Janusz Korwin-Mikke and Italian MEP Gianluca Buonanno have been suspended from participating in all activities of the European Parliament's official bodies for ten days and will each have to pay a fine of 3,060 euros, the Parliament's Bureau, consisting of its president and 14 vice-presidents, decided Monday.
During the July 2015 plenary session, Korwin-Mikke raised his arm in a Nazi salute and said "This time it is ein Reich, ein Volk, ein Ticket", in protest against an EU-wide transport ticket. Also, during a debate on September 8, he referred to migrants as "human garbage."
At the October 6 plenary sitting, Buonanno wore a T-shirt bearing a mashed up image of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Adolf Hitler. On the following day, during a debate with Merkel and French President Francois Holland, he sported a fake mustache evocative of Adolf Hitler and made a Nazi salute.
The suspensions will enter into force on Tuesday, and will last until November 11.
