More than 40 rabbis have died as a result of the novel coronavirus, most of them located in the New York metropolitan area. While the majority of them came from the Orthodox Jewish community, there is one known case of a Reform rabbi who passed away as a result of the deadly virus, known as COVID-19. Right before he died from coronavirus, Rabbi Mordechai Gurary, who was a prominent figure in the New York Jewish community, made a video asking God to save the Jews from coronavirus:
