Israeli actress reportedly close to inking deal with Showtime for series.

Gal Gadot will soon be adding a new role to her resumé: Hedy Lamarr.According to reports on Tuesday, the Wonder Woman star is close to signing a deal to both star in and executive produce a limited series for Showtime about the life and career of the late actress.Lamarr, who was born in Austria to a family with Jewish roots, went on to become one of Hollywood’s most famous faces in the 1940s and ’50s. Unbeknownst to many, she was also an inventor and engineer credited with creating a communications device to fight the Nazis that became the basis for today’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology. A documentary about her life, Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story, was released last year.If the deal is signed, it would be yet another starring role for the busy Gadot, who is currently filming the sequel to Wonder Woman: WW84.A report in Variety said that Gadot’s husband, Jaron Varsano, would also serve as an executive producer on the series.Earlier this year, Gadot was cast in an upcoming art heist comedy titled Red Notice and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. That film is slated to begin shooting in April. And before that, Gadot announced that she will be producing a new film about the late Cuban dictator, Fidel Castro. The film, tentatively titled My Dearest Fidel, is based on a Politico article about a relationship in the early 1960s between the Cuban leader and an American reporter, Lisa Howard.
