US Jewish groups congratulate Trump on inauguration

The Zionist Organization of America added they appreciate President Trump’s “determination to eliminate the scourge of radical Islam.”

Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th president of the United States of America.
NEW YORK - American Jewish organizations congratulated US President Donald Trump on his inauguration on Friday and said they look forward to working with him and his administration on matters relating to the US-Israel relationship.
Leaders of the Conference of Presidents said they welcome “President Trump’s acknowledgement of the need to heal the divisions in our country, to improve the lives of all Americans, to reinforce alliances and to strengthen our security.”
“We look forward to working with President Trump and his administration to deepen the historic special relationship between the US and Israel, enhance the safety and security of the Jewish state and its people and on other issues of vital importance to the American Jewish community,” they wrote. “Among these are the multiple threats posed by Iran, promoting peaceful resolutions wherever possible, standing forcefully against terrorism and its backers, and fighting anti-Semitism and racism.”
The Zionist Organization of America added they appreciate President Trump’s “determination to eliminate the scourge of radical Islam.”
“We look forward to President Trump remembering his promise to recognize and move our embassy to Israel’s eternal capital Jerusalem,” ZOA added. “As Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer said at the ceremony today, just before the President and Vice President were inaugurated: ‘Our best days are yet to come’.”
Meanwhile, Israeli politicians and senior officials welcomed the new US commander-and-chief, expressing their hope for greater cooperation between the two allies going forward.
Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon congratulated Trump on his inauguration on Friday and called him “a true friend of Israel”.
"Thank you President Trump for your unequivocal support, we look forward to welcoming you to our capital of Jerusalem,” he said. "After the shameful resolution that was adopted by the Security Council, Israel looks forward to strengthening our most important alliance and leading together towards a new era at the UN.”
Earlier this week, as Trump’s pick for UN Ambassador Nikki Haley underwent her Senate confirmation hearing, Danon, who had welcomed the announcement of her appointment back in November, said he is looking forward to working together with her to “undo the damage” done by Security Council resolution 2334 and to “lead towards a new era at the UN which includes real reforms that will put an end to the biased obsession with Israel.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also congratulated Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration earlier on Friday, calling him his “friend.”
“Congrats to my friend President Trump,” Netanyahu wrote on Twitter Friday, several hours before the president elect was scheduled to officially assume the title following his inauguration in Washington DC. “Look forward to working closely with you to make the alliance between Israel and the United States of America stronger than ever.”
