Zuckerberg, Khamenei more powerful than Netanyahu, according to ‘Forbes’
PM ranked No. 21, only Israeli on list

When it comes to holding the reins of power, it pays to be the head of Facebook or the supreme leader of Iran.Both Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei outranked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was No. 21 on Forbes magazine’s annual list of the world’s most powerful people.The ranking is still significant, for the leader of a small country of 8 million people, particularly given that only eight other heads of state were above him on the list.Forbes placed Russian President Vladimir Putin first on its list, German Chancellor Angela Merkel second, followed by US President Barack Obama in third place and Pope Francis in fourth place.Netanyahu also fell behind Google CEO Larry Page, who was ranked No. 10. Zuckerberg was No. 19 and Khamenei was 20th on the list.Absent from the list all together were Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.Netanyahu was the only Israeli on the list, but not the only Jew among the world’s power brokers.Other Jews included: Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen at No. 7, Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein at No. 26, Google co-founder Sergey Brin at No. 30, and former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg at 44.Yellen is also one of only nine women who are on the list of 73 of the most powerful people.JTA contributed to this report
