Knesset House Committee chair MK Yariv Levin (Likud) requested on Monday that Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein prevent MK Haneen Zoabi (Balad) from joining the next blockade-breaking flotilla to Gaza.
"Zoabi participated in the terror flotilla to Gaza last year, and was investigated on suspicion of committing various crimes, including attempting to enter a closed military zone," Levin wrote.

Knesset House Committee chairman MK Yariv Levin (Likud) has asked Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein to prevent MK Haneen Zoabi (Balad) from joining the next blockade-breaking flotilla to Gaza.
“Zoabi participated in the terror flotilla to Gaza last year, and was investigated on suspicion of committing various crimes, including attempting to enter a closed military zone,” Levin wrote in a letter sent on Monday.
The Likud MK wrote that Zoabi “played a central role in the incitement that went along” with the Mavi Marmara’s voyage toward Gaza. “MK Zoabi was part of an attempt to harm IDF soldiers as a part of her participation in the illegal flotilla,” Levin said.
The Knesset House Committee voted to strip Zoabi of her privileges as an MK, including the right to hold a diplomatic passport, “to prevent Zoabi from participating in a similar event in the future,” the committee chairman explained.
Levin then requested from Weinstein “to take action to ensure that MK Zoabi will not be able to take part in the events of the planned flotilla, including preventing her from leaving the country.”
The Likud MK also pointed out that the Attorney-General’s Office has yet to decide whether Zoabi should stand trial for her participation in last year’s flotilla incident, saying that the delay “is not justified and shows weakness and inconsistency.
“Zoabi and her colleagues continue to act in a way that no other parliament in the world would allow,” Levin wrote. “In addition, the indecision and lack of an appropriate response encourage Zoabi and other MKs to participate in the next flotilla.”

In response, Zoabi said that “small racists like Yariv Levin cannot stop free people, and the blockade on Gaza will be broken.
“They think they pull the strings and I have to act the way they want me to,” Zoabi added.
“Next they’ll do what they did to me to all MKs that are different from the consensus.
“Perhaps Levin should give me a list: what to think, who to criticize, who to support, what political agenda to adopt, which groups to join, etc.,” she said.
“I will not allow this dangerous, racist game to take place,” Zoabi concluded. “This is not the end of Haneen Zoabi in politics, and not the end of democracy in this state, but if people continue in this way, it will be the end of politics in Israel.”
