AIPAC's annual policy conference continued Monday with US Secretary of State John Kerry highlighting a slate of speakers that also includes Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) and House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD). Kerry's speech comes hours after he met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who is currently on a state visit to the US. Netanyahu was scheduled to address the forum on Tuesday. Earlier on Monday, US Senator John McCain (R-AZ) called on the Senate to pass new bipartisan sanctions that would take effect if negotiations fail on Iran's disputed nuclear program. 'I have never seen this world more in need of strong American leadership than it is today. Israel needs you,' he said. in an appeal to the Obama administration. During his appearance before AIPAC on Sunday, US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew defended the Obama administration's diplomacy with Iran on Sunday, vowing to continue enforcing harsh sanctions against the Islamic Republic until world powers reach a comprehensive solution definitively ending the nuclear crisis.
