ROCKING THE WORLD
Since 1999, Israeli group Rockfour has been prominent on the US indie music scene, with several successful tours and performances, including a supporting slot for the Dave Matthews Band. Critically, the band has also been lauded in the US, with features in Rolling Stone and Q magazines, Entertainment Weekly and a spot on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered.

5. OY VEY
Unlike many contemporary klezmer bands that incorporate influences such as drum ’n’ bass, avant-garde and bluegrass, Oy Division focuses on a pure roots klezmer sound from old Europe. The group consists of vocalist/accordionist Assaf Talmudi, his brother Eyal (who also plays with Balkan Beat Box) on clarinet, singer/percussionist Noam Inbar, violinist Gershon Leizersohn and acoustic bassist Avichai Tuchman. Join these talented musicians as they groove on down with master accordionist Emil Aybinder at Jerusalem’s Tower of David Museum. NIS 80.

6. SPECIAL EVENT
GAINING MOMENTUM
Mayumana storms the stage with its spectacular show Momentum. Mayumana, comparable to the New York group STOMP, is made up of nine nimble performers who put on an energetic show of rhythm, music, dance, theatrics and humor as they use everyday objects to liven up the stage. Time, space, synchronicity and live music are the main ingredients of Momentum.
Runs throughout July, Mayumana House, Tel Aviv, (03) 681-1787 or www.mayumana.com.
7. DANCE
BUENOS AIRES BEGUILERS
Twenty-one dancers, singers and musicians, including choreographer, director and premier dancer Gustavo Russ, will bring Russ’s newest opus, Tango Seduction, to Israel for a week-long tour throughout the country.
The show combines three genres: classical ballet, modern dance and, of course, the ultra-sexy tango. The first part of Tango Seduction, set in the early 1920s in a Buenos Aires bar, is intended to take the audience on a short journey through the various eras of tango.
Runs today through Tuesday, www.tangoseduction.com
8. PULLING THE STRINGS
Choreographer Nadine Bommer’s American Movie is structured like a double bill. In the first act, the participants are dressed like stuffed dolls and use mechanical, fragmented moves. They simulate, in their own quirky, spasmodic style, the movie-going experience. In the second act, people come to see a film, and their action interprets the conduct of the marionettes.
Wednesday, 9 p.m., Suzanne Dellal Center, Tel Aviv 8
