As the weather will be very hot, dusty and dry on Tuesday, Magen David Adom advises those who plan visits to parks and hikes to take along plenty of water, sunscreen, lightweight clothing and hats to prevent heatstroke and sunburn. The dust alone in the hamsin conditions can make sensitive people - including pregnant women, heart and lung patients, the elderly and babies - feel unwell and have difficulty breathing. According to MDA director-general Eli Bin, mild hyperthermia symptoms include rapid pulse, thirst and discomfort; heatstroke symptoms include confusion, headaches, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, a speedy heartbeat and partial or complete unconsciousness. It is best to prevent sunstroke by regularly drinking cool water. If heatstroke does occur, stop all activity, stay in the shade, drink a lot of water (beyond the feeling of thirst) and call MDA at 101. The temperatures on Tuesday are expected to be as high as 33 along the coast, 34 in the Jerusalem area, 37 in the Dead Sea, 36in Eilat and 36in the North. The hot, dusty and dry weather is expected to end sometime late Tuesday with temperatures dropping significantly by Wednesday.
