Health Ministry: No increase in crib deaths

Contrary to scare headlines in the Hebrew press, there has not been an unusually high number of cot deaths (sudden infant death syndrome) during the past six weeks compared to the same period in recent years, the Health Ministry said Sunday. There were 13 unexplained deaths of infants from December 2003 to the end of January 2004; 16 from December 2004 to the end of January 2005; 9 from December 2005 to the end of January 2006; and three from December 1, 2006 through January 15, 2007.
