Hospital fund-raising ride in Jerusalem gets bicyclists in gear for November marathon.

Over 1,000 riders took part in Alyn Hospital’s bike riding campaign in Jerusalem on Wednesday to raise money for the physically disabled children and teens treated at the Jerusalem rehabilitation center.It was a warm up before November’s 13th annual Alyn Wheels of Love fundraising event to be held for a few days starting in Arad on November 11, with participation from 700 riders from Israel and nine other countries around the world.Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat attended the opening ceremony in the Jerusalem Park’s Arazim Forest along with Jerusalem Development Authority head Moshe Leon, Jewish National Fund-KKL chairman Effi Stenzler, Jerusalem Development Authority director Moti Hazan, Nature and Parks Authority director Shaul Goldstein and other dignitaries.Among the participants were eight blind people who rode on tandem bike with sighted partners.At 9:30 a.m., participants and their families attended the large happening. The cost of registration, NIS 30 apiece, will go to help the young patients, who suffer from congenital diseases or who have been disabled by accidents or terror attacks.A similar warm-up event will be held in Tel Aviv on Friday, as bikers ride around the city.
