Officials said a massive highway pileup in eastern France including two buses and a tractor-trailer has left one person dead and 39 others injured.
Police spokesman Jean-Francois Cortot said a 72-year-old Frenchman was killed. The injured have been taken to area hospitals.
Regional government official Frederique Poncy-Kuhn said one of the buses involved in the 28-vehicle collision between Metz and Boulay was carrying Britons.
More than 230 rescue workers and police rushed to the site of the pileup around 9:30 a.m. Sunday on the A4 motorway.
