Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas met with European Union representatives Tuesday for talks on ways to continue financial aid to the Palestinians despite Hamas' election victory.
"There will be one law, one Legislative Council," he said, adding that he was speaking with Hamas to find a "shared point of view."
But his meetings in Europe were overshadowed by new violence, with Abbas accusing Britain and the United States of being responsible for an Israeli raid on a West Bank prison Tuesday and demanding that Israeli forces withdraw.
"There were unfortunately clashes," Abbas told reporters in Vienna, reacting to news of the raid on the prison in Jericho. Abbas said Israel should have issued a warning to Palestinian officials beforehand
