Abbas visits Norway to meet top officials

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was meeting top Norwegian officials Wednesday for talks expected to focus on an aid crunch for his people after Hamas took power. Abbas and his delegation arrived in Oslo Tuesday evening after a visit to Turkey. During the 24-hour stopover in the Norwegian capital, Abbas was to meet Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere and other leaders. Norway's center-left coalition government has sent mixed signals about whether it will continue that level of aid after the Hamas movement formed a Palestinian government last month.
