Afghanistan: Fake suicide vest used in robbery

An Afghan man strapped on a fake suicide vest and used it as a prop during an attempted robbery in the country's main money market Wednesday, an Interior Ministry official said. The suspect, identified as Ali Reza, was captured by police in Kabul's main currency exchange market, and some police officials announced they had stopped a suicide bomber. But Gen. Abdul Manan Farahi, the anti-terrorism chief of the Afghan Interior Ministry, said Reza's belt did not contain explosives and that he had tried to use it to scare moneychangers into giving him cash.
