The UAE's national cybersecurity system foiled organized cyberattacks described as having a "terrorist nature" targeting the country’s digital infrastructure and vital sectors, the UAE's Cybersecurity Council confirmed on Saturday.
The attacks were intended to destabilize the country and disrupt essential services, the council said.
According to a post shared by the council on social media, the attacks included attempts to breach networks, deploy ransomware, and conduct organized phishing campaigns targeting national platforms.
Terror groups also used AI as an offensive tool
Attackers also exploited AI technologies to develop complex offensive tools, a significant advancement in terrorist groups' methods and capabilities.
With the start of Ramadan, when many Muslims in the UAE and worldwide make charitable donations, the council urged citizens to adopt "safe practices" online and shared techniques to protect data and prevent fraud.
It has urged the public to report any cyber threats or suspicious attempts through officially approved channels to help safeguard the country’s digital security and ensure the continuity of institutions under all circumstances, according to the report.
