Australians evacuated from Lebanon reach Turkey

Some 450 Australians who were evacuated from Lebanon by ferry boat arrived at a Turkish Mediterranean port early Saturday, officials said. Forty-seven Swedish nationals were also on board one of the boats that docked at the port of Mersin, the Australian Embassy said. Australia's Foreign Minister Alexander Downer has said the government expects to move up to 6,000 citizens out of Lebanon by late Sunday. About 25,000 dual Australian-Lebanese citizens are believed to be living in Lebanon.
