Bomb wounds 5 US troops in Afghanistan

A roadside bomb wounded five US troops when it hit their vehicle in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, while a suicide attack on a US-led coalition convoy in the south killed the bomber but hurt no one else, officials said. A purported Taliban spokesman, Mohammed Hanif, called The Associated Press to claim responsibility for both attacks. In the north, an intruder killed a lawmaker in his home. After the roadside bombing in mountainous Kunar province, insurgents opened fire at the troops, a US military statement said.
