The British government was considering weakening laws designed to allow British law enforcement officials to detain alleged war criminals and those suspected of serious human rights abuses when they enter Britain, the British daily The Guardian reported on Friday.
The government was considering several proposals to amend the laws following Israeli anger over an attempt to arrest retired IDF maj.-gen. Doron Almog at Heathrow Airport in September 2005.
Israeli officials have met with British Home Office officials and Foreign Office representatives since the incident.
