Britain: North Korea faces tough UN sanctions

The UK and other members of the UN Security Council are drafting tough sanctions to rebuke North Korea over its nuclear test, Foreign Secretary David Miliband said Monday. Miliband said the test last week was "wrong, misguided, dangerous" and a breach of previous Security Council resolutions. He said that Britain and other council members were developing a new resolution which would impose strict sanctions on North Korea. Officials say financial sanctions, a toughened arms embargo and searches of ships carrying suspected nuclear cargo could be included in a new resolution. Miliband urged North Korea to return to stalled talks over its nuclear program.
