Bush: Security at home depends on victory in Iraq

Speaking to gray-haired soldiers of former wars, US President George W. Bush said America must continue to wage a difficult and costly war, or pull out and live under a growing threat of terror at home. "If we give up the fight in the streets of Baghdad, we will face the terrorists in the streets of our own cities," Bush said Thursday in a speech to rally support for his unpopular war strategy two months before elections determine whether the Republicans maintain control of Congress. "The security of the civilized world depends on victory in the war on terror, and that depends on victory in Iraq," Bush said.
