President George W. Bush says the United States and Europe must be able to share information on intelligence matters to protect citizens from terrorism.
Bush told the German newspaper Bild that Western governments, in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, "must be willing to converse with each other in ways that might not have happened before."
"If we know something is going to happen in Germany, it's very important for the United States government to call up its counterparts and to share that information. And there's a lot of that information-sharing," Bush said in an interview conducted Friday, according to a White House transcript released Sunday.
