Colombia dismantles al Qaida, Hamas passport ring

Colombia has dismantled a false passport ring with links to al-Qaida and Hamas militants, the acting attorney general said Thursday following 32 simultaneous raids in five cities. Nineteen people were arrested as a result of the operation, which was carried out in collaboration with US authorities, the attorney general's office said in a statement. Of those arrested, four were Jordanian citizens, said Manuel Saenz, head of foreign immigration for the DAS secret police, on Caracol television. Eight are being sought by the United States for extradition, acting Attorney General Jorge Armando Otalora told RCN television.
