Congressman denounces Ahmadinejad's comments

Recent statements calling the Holocaust "a myth" show how "divorced from reality," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his supporters are, US Rep. Tom Lantos said Thursday. Speaking to reporters in Jerusalem, the Hungarian-born Holocaust survivor also warned that Iran must be stopped from developing nuclear weapons. Lantos referred to reports that an Iranian group will hold a conference questioning whether or not there was a mass murder of European Jews during World War II. "I hope this conference will convene, and the absurdity of the idea will be exposed globally," Lantos said. "These people stand condemned before public opinion."
