Militants kill police officer in Nepal village

Militants stormed a police station in a remote mountain village in western Nepal early Saturday, killing at least one police officer, a government official said. No group has taken responsibility for the overnight raid. It is the first such attack in the region since Nepal's communist rebels gave up their armed insurgency three years ago. Government administrator Krishna Shyam Budhathoki said the militants made off with weapons and ammunition during their raid on the police station in Syawlebhan village. The village, which is only accessible by foot, is about 150 miles (240 kilometers) west of the capital, Katmandu.
