Nepal's former communist guerrillas have begun handing over their weapons to UN monitors on Wednesday, officials said.
UN arms monitors have began to register the ex-guerrilla fighters and their weapons at a camp in Chitwan, in southern Nepal, in the first step toward disarming of thousands of fighters and confining them in camps.
The move comes two days after the former insurgents joined an interim Parliament, entering mainstream politics for the first time.
