Pakistan's army says troops have killed 80 Taliban militants and taken control of a key town near the northwestern Swat Valley. Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said at least one soldier was killed and nine seriously wounded during Wednesday's battle for Sultanwas. The town is in the Buner region. Pakistani troops launched an offensive last month after Taliban militants based in Swat pushed into neighboring Buner. The move brought the insurgents within 60 miles (100 kilometers) of the capital of Islamabad.
