Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger put off informing then-president Richard Nixon of the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War to keep Nixon from "interfering," a new book due out in April reveals.
Historian Robert Dallek states in Nixon and Kissinger: Partners in Power (HarperCollins) that reports of the war reached Washington at approximately 6 am, but Kissinger waited three and a half hours to tell the president.
