Seven people were killed when two roadside bombs exploded in eastern Algeria, hours after the president said he would run for a third term, the state news agency said Friday.
The official APS agency reported that a first roadside bomb blew up at Foum El-Metlag, near Algeria's eastern border with Tunisia, killing four members of a family driving by in a minivan.
A second device exploded when rescue services arrived, killing two police officers and a firefighter, APS said.
There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attacks, which took place late Thursday.
