Russia: US hasn't provided written compromise proposals on missile defense

A Russian official says the US has not provided compromise proposals on missile defense in written form despite statements that it would do so late Tuesday. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates made the proposals in a meeting with their Russian counterparts in Moscow on Tuesday. They are aimed at easing Russia's concern about US plans for missile defense facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic. The Russian news agency Interfax quoted Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin as saying they still don't have the proposals in writing. However, the agency cited another diplomat as saying the delay was probably just a technical matter.
