Russia's foreign minister arrives in Afghanistan

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Afghanistan Friday for talks with senior Afghan officials, including President Hamid Karzai, the foreign ministry said. Lavrov, whose planned visit last month was canceled due to bad weather, will discuss Russia's contribution in Afghanistan's reconstruction and its role in training the country's counter-narcotics police force, said Sultan Ahmed Baheen, a spokesman at the ministry. Lavrov will also meet Afghan Foreign Minister Rangeen Dadfar Spanta, he said.
