Severe storms derail train, damage college campus in Kearney, Nebraska

A powerful storm packed with possible tornadoes has knocked a train of its tracks, and downed trees and power lines. There were reports of damage on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus and at the Buffalo County fairgrounds on Thursday night. There have been no reports of injuries. The county emergency manager has asked all Kearney residents to remain at home and discouraged travel because of storm damage across the city. There were also reports of a tornado cited near Aurora. Gov. Dave Heineman's spokeswoman Jen Rae Hein says the state's emergency operations center also was set up Thursday evening.
