UK: 5 hostages kidnapped in Baghdad are British

Five people kidnapped Tuesday in Baghdad are British, the Foreign Office said. The five were abducted during an incident at the Finance Ministry, a spokeswoman said on condition of anonymity in line with government policy. The government's COBRA crisis committee was meeting in response to the kidnapping, the Cabinet Office said. Britain's Foreign Office said the session would be attended by officials who will report back to ministers, including Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett. The committee is convened to respond to national emergencies and incidents in which British lives are put at risk.
