US journalist Simon Ostrovsky, who holds dual US-Israeli citizenship, was released Thursday by separatists who held him since Tuesday in the eastern Ukraine city of Slovyansk.
A spokesman for VICE, the edgy, youth-oriented news outlet Ostrovsky works for, issued a statement saying that he "has been safely released and is in good health. We would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time."
Israel's embassy in Kiev, according to Foreign Ministry officials, did make inquiries over the last two days with local authorizes about Ostrovsky's fate.
Ostrovsky has been reporting from Crimea and Ukraine throughout the current crisis.
