US to permit visit of UN team to Guantanamo

The United States agreed Tuesday morning to permit a team of three UN representatives to visit the Guantanamo detention center, which was used to house hundreds of terror suspects, mostly belonging to al-Qaida. The Pentagon approved the visit only after four years of UN requests, Israel Radio reported. The team declared that they would only visit if they would be permitted to speak to the detainees. However, the American administration decided to allow the representatives to speak only with the military commanders of the camp.
