Annan to meet with Ahmadinejad over nuclear crisis

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan was set to meet with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Teheran on Sunday morning in an attempt to achieve a diplomatic solution to the current nuclear crisis, Army Radio reported. Over the weekend, the EU gave Iran a two-week extension to redress its response to the incentives package offered by the international community in exchange for stopping its nuclear program. EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana said Saturday night that it was obvious to him that even at the end of this period, nothing was going to change, but "we have to clarify several aspects of the response the Iranians gave a week ago."
