Iran's Foreign Ministry says it is watching to see if remarks about engagement by US president-elect Barack Obama will lead to a change in US policy toward Teheran. Ministry spokesman Hasan Qashqavi has said in his weekly news briefing that they will be watching to see if Obama's remarks "lead to essential change" in US behavior towards Iran. If there is real change, Iran will take the appropriate matching actions, he added in Monday's briefing. Earlier this week Obama told ABC news channel that he wanted to improve relations with Iran, describing a "new approach" involving engagement. The two countries haven't had diplomatic relations since 1979 when Iranian students took over US embassy for 444 days.
