After 'yellow vests,' empty beds? Protesters decry cuts to elderly care

Protesters claimed that five institutions closed this year because of the funding cut. They fear that next year the number will double.

Dozens of beds were placed outside of the Cinematheque courtyard on Sunday to protest the deficient in funding for elderly in long-term care situations.
Those protesting are also pushing to allow foreign workers to work in hospitals. Foreign workers are currently able to work in other industries such as construction, tourism, agriculture and care for elderly people their homes, but not in hospitals.
Protesters claimed that five institutions closed this year because of the funding cut. They fear that next year the number will double.
The Ministry of Health is in charge of determining how much funding is allotted for different treatments.
