In the aftermath of the Iron Swords Operation, and about two and a half weeks after the fighting had begun, parents in Jerusalem received encouraging news on Tuesday evening. On the morning of Wednesday, the city's educational system resumed its normal operations, functioning in full and without any restrictions.

On Tuesday, the Home Front Command released new defense guidelines for the rear areas, declaring that Jerusalem had transitioned from a "yellow" status to a "green" one. Owing to this change, gatherings of up to 1,000 people were permitted in Jerusalem that day, workplaces operated without constraints, and educational institutions reopened without limitations.

This status change means that all students, from kindergartens to schools, returned fully to their educational institutions, marking an end to the previous two and a half weeks of chaos and uncertainty that many parents and students had endured.

Officials from the Jerusalem municipality emphasized that in the two weeks leading up to that day, actions had been undertaken to bolster residents' personal security. These measures included increased patrols and enforcement around educational establishments during daytime hours, as well as heightened vigilance in the city's neighborhoods during evenings and nights.

This heightened security was in addition to the fortified presence of security forces stationed in the capital due to the prevailing security situation.
