El Al announced on Friday morning that it has canceled all flights following the closure of Israeli airspace due to heightened security concerns—and urged passengers scheduled to fly on Saturday night (June 15) or Sunday (June 16) not to come to the airport and to await further updates.

Customers currently abroad were advised to arrange accommodations until new security guidelines are issued.

“As of 9:30 a.m., and following the declaration of a special situation on the home front and the closure of Israeli airspace for takeoffs and landings as per the decision of security authorities, El Al has updated that all its flights are canceled,” the company said in a statement to media outlets.

The emergency directive comes amid fears of Iranian retaliation for recent Israeli military activity.

El Al also announced an updated commercial policy: customers who booked flights through June 13 and hold tickets for departures through June 28, 2025, may cancel their reservations and convert their tickets into a voucher for future travel.

Additionally, passengers whose flights were canceled due to the current situation are eligible for full refunds. The airline said its policy would be reviewed and updated as necessary.

To prioritize service for stranded passengers, El Al has closed new bookings for all flights scheduled through June 30, 2025, “until the security situation becomes clearer and in order to prioritize assistance for Israelis whose flights have been canceled.”

Ongoing updates will be posted on El Al’s website and its official social media channels.
