A new NGO bill, meant to tax 80% of donations received from abroad, will exempt ultra-Orthodox organizations, Channel 13 reported on Sunday.

Ultra-Orthodox NGOs will reportedly be defined as engaging in "education," "welfare," "healthcare," and "the Holocaust."

NGOs defined as "political" will be taxed at 80%, including women’s rights organizations, LGBTQ+ groups, and freedom of information organizations.

Haredi MKs expressed concern over the bill's potential effect on donations to NGOs that support haredi causes, many of which are based on funds from overseas. The details in the current report are likely meant to assuage those concerns.

This is a developing story.
