Omri Miran was abducted in front of his wife and two children by invading terrorists on October 7,2023. Now, after spending two birthdays in captivity, the Hungarian-Israeli kibbutznik is finally set to return home to his wife Lishay and daughters Roni and Alma.

Miran lived on Kibbutz Nahal Oz, working as a shiatsu therapist and a gardener, according to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum. O

On October 7, terrorists livestreamed as they dragged Miran and his family from the safe room in their home to a second location, eventually deciding to abduct only Miran to Gaza. While the family had originally locked the door of the room, Hamas held a neighbor at gunpoint and had him beg for Miran to open the door to him, according to KAN.

During the three-hour Facebook video, terrorists could be seen pointing weapons at the family.

Roni, at the time only two years old, tried to run after the terrorists and screamed at them that she wanted her father.

Since being taken, Miran has appeared in a Hamas propaganda video in April and released hostages have confirmed that he was alive and is in good health as of July. For a time, he was held alongside American-Israeli hostage Keith Siegel.

"One of the kidnapped who returned in one of the last exchanges said that he was with Omri in the tunnels and apartments until July. It is not clear why they were separated at that stage. Overall, his condition is fine. Apparently, he is physically fine," Miran's brother, Nadav, told Walla in February.

'I hope you haven't forgotten his name'

The Miran family were invited in April to join Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on a diplomatic trip to Hungary but rejected the invitation after their request to meet with the Hungarian premier went unanswered, Miran’s father Dani told Ynet.

They later expressed outrage when Netanyahu referred to Miran only as the “Hungarian hostage” in an X\Twitter post about his meeting with  Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

“I hope you haven’t forgotten his name, and that you haven’t forgotten that he and 58 other hostages are waiting for you to bring them home,” Lishay wrote in response.

Kibbutz Nachal Oz described how Miran would “take care of people and take care of the body and soul of everyone around him.”

The Kibbutz also noted that Miran is a “ proud, involved, loving father,” “caring, loving, supportive “ husband and a “loving, appreciative and supportive son and brother to Dani, Boaz, Nadav and Naama.”
