A 35-year-old man man was killed after being crushed suddenly by a tree at Shamir Medical Center on Monday.
According to initial reports, the man arrived at the hospital with his wife, who was ain labor, and left the maternity ward to purchase a bottle of water when the tree suddenly fell directly on top of him.
Fire and rescue forces worked with advanced hydraulic equipment, tree-cutting tools, and additional rescue tools until they were able to reach the man and extricate him from the branches and trunks. When rescuedthe medical teams on site were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene.
"An unfathomable tragedy," a ZAKA spokesperson said. "He just wanted to help her and didn’t return."
According to hospital sources, the man suffered severe head injuries and significant internal trauma. He was transferred to the forensic institute in Abu Kabir for an investigation into the exact circumstances of his death.
