Yosef Chaim Rabuch, an IDF soldier who was on leave, was killed in his home in Kiryat Arba by a bullet fired by his friend, a Border Police officer, Israeli media reported on Tuesday evening.
That evening, the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended the police officer's detention by five days, and the Police Investigations Department (PID) charged him with manslaughter.
The soldier and the police officer were close friends and were planning to go out together. According to the suspicion, before they left the house, the police officer demonstrated something with his gun, and then a bullet was fired that hit the soldier and caused his death. The soldier was taken to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead there.
"The council shares in the deep sorrow of the Rabuh family, hugs his relatives, and will continue to maintain ongoing contact with the relevant authorities at this difficult time," the Kiryat Arba Local Council stated in the wake of the shooting.
