Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, in a Wednesday social media post, condemned the state of affairs surrounding the investigation of Military Advocate General Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi for obstruction of justice and connections to a leaked video in the Sde Teiman abuse case involving Palestinian prisoners.

Smotrich accused her of working against IDF troops and commanders, and "collaborating in leaks with blood libels against the State of Israel."

Smotrich added, “Does someone need more proof of the critical need to clean the stables, and the necessary reform in our justice system and law enforcement?!”

The Defense Ministry suspended Tomer-Yerushalmi after a probe by Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara tied her to the leak of a video in the Sde Teiman abuse of Palestinian prisoners case.

“The Military Advocate General will not return to her position as long as the affair is being investigated, and when it concludes, we will act in accordance with the findings,” Defense Minister Israel Katz said on a post.

He also called Tomer-Yerushalmi’s actions “one of the most severe blood libels against IDF soldiers, which exposes them to persecution and lawsuits around the world.”

Ben-Gvir, Regev react to Sde Teiman

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called the case it “a dramatic development in the defense of democracy against criminal conduct disguised as legal.”

“All those involved in the affair must be held accountable, including the Attorney-General herself, who originally tried to torpedo the investigation with a false statement to the High Court of Justice,” he said.

Transportation Minister Miri Regev asked, “Why was the defense establishment sent on vacation?!”

“They sewed a case against our fighters, harmed the security of the state and the name of Israel throughout the entire world,” she wrote on X and added, “The Sde Teiman affair is not a mistake, it is a blood libel stemming from a distorted working assumption of those who are supposed to protect the soldiers of the IDF.”

They did not shoot the arrow; they invented it and painted the target. This is a rotten system that has lost every moral compass!”
